"Nothing Compares 2 U" is a song written around 1984 by Prince, whose heartfelt version by controversial Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor became a number-one hit in many countries in 1990.
The video for "Nothing Compares 2 U" is considered to be one of the best videos of the 1990s, and won Best Video at the 1990 MTV Video Music Awards - the first video by a female artist to win in this category. It consists almost solely of a closeup on O'Connor's face as she passionately sings the song's lyrics, with genuine tears rolls down each side of her face. Pure emotion, not only for Sinéad but also for all of us – in such an intense love song, what more can you ask for?

"Nothing Compares 2 U" è una canzone scritta all’incirca nel 1984 da Prince, la cui accorata interpretazione da parte della discussa cantante irlandese Sinéad O'Connor nel 1990 divenne un successo in molte nazioni del mondo, arrivando al numero uno delle classifiche.
Il video di "Nothing Compares 2 U" viene considerato uno dei migliori di tutti gli anni Novanta, e vinse il premio come Miglior Video agli MTV Video Music Awards del 1990 - è stato il primo video interpretato da una cantante donna a vincere in questa categoria. Consiste quasi unicamente in un primissimo piano del volto di Sinéad mentre canta appassionatamente, e vere lacrime le scorrono sulle guance. Emozioni allo stato puro, non solo per Sinéad ma anche per tutti noi – in una canzone d’amore così intensa, cosa si può volere di più?

"Feel" is a song by British pop singer Robbie Williams. It was released as the lead single from Williams' fifth studio album, “Escapology”, in 2002. Critics were quite negative about the album, but fans had the opinion that “Escapology” was an enormous masterpiece: "Feel" became Williams' biggest international hit, becoming his first number-one single in the United World Chart and his best selling single in Europe.
Why bad guys are so charming and grab our attention beyond their physical good look? Maybe because of their devil-may-care attitude, or just since they got “too much life running though their veins” and people can realise it? Whatever it is, attraction to them can be irresistible – and, basing upon her reactions to an unusual cowboy-style Robbie, obviously Daryl Hannah can tell ;-)

"Feel" è una canzone del cantante pop inglese Robbie Williams. E’ stata pubblicata come singolo di punta del quinto album di Williams, “Escapology”, nel 2002. I critici giudicarono in modo decisamente severo quest’album, ma secondo i fans “Escapology” fu un vero capolavoro: "Feel" divenne il più grande successo internazionale di Williams, diventando il suo singolo numero uno nelle classifiche mondiali ed il suo singolo più venduto in assoluto in Europa.
Perchè i cattivi ragazzi sono così affascinanti e riescono a catturare la nostra attenzione al di là della loro bellezza fisica? Forse è a causa del loro modo di fare strafottente, o solo perchè hanno “troppa vita che gli scorre nelle vene” e la gente se ne accorge? Di qualunque cosa si tratti, l’attrazione nei loro confronti può diventare irresistibile – e, se ci basiamo sulle sue reazioni a un Robbie qui negli insoliti abiti da cowboy, ovviamente Daryl Hannah può confermarlo ;-)

"Take on Me" is a song by the Norwegian band A-ha. The song is a track from A-ha's first album, “Hunting High and Low”, released in 1985. The song was originally recorded in 1984 but was remixed for the release of the album, becoming its most successful song and one of the most popular songs of the 80s.
The innovative video - which won six awards at the MTV 1986 Video Music Awards - was inspired by the animated film “Commuter” created by Michael Patterson, and by Ken Russell’s movie “Altered States”, and was an amalgamation of rotoscope-style animation and live-action

"(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" is a song co-written and performed by the Canadian rock singer-songwriter,Bryan Adams, featured on the soundtrack for the film “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” (1991), starring Starring Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Christian Slater and Alan Rickman.
The idea of a song to promote the movie came late in the making of the film. The director had originally wanted the song written by Adams to be as if it were Maid Marian singing it to Robin Hood: he offered it to several singers ( including Kate Bush, Annie Lennox and Lisa Stansfield ) but they all turned it down so that it was decided that Bryan Adams himself should perform the song
Oddly, the film company wasn’t happy with the result and tried at length to have Adams change it, but he refused. As a result, the song ended up buried at the very end of the film credits. Imagine Bryan ‘slaugh when the song entered most of the charts in the world at number 1, becoming the best-selling song of 1991 and one of the best-selling singles of all time, and won also a Grammy Award in 1992
And now, let’s enjoy this wonderful song, hoping we too like Maid Marian can find soon somebody as bold and proud and charming as Kevin Costner, eager to tell us, “…Search your heart , search your soul - when you find me there you'll search no more”.


"(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" è una canzone scritta ed interpretata dal cantautore canadese Bryan Adams, che è stata usata per la colonna sonora del film “Robin Hood: Principe dei ladri” (1991), a cui hanno partecipato Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Christian Slater e Alan Rickman.
L’idea di usare una canzone per la promozione del film venne tardi alla produzione. Il regista inizialmente voleva che la canzone venisse scritta da Adams come se lady Marian la stesse cantando a Robin Hood: l’offrì poi a diverse cantanti ( incluse Kate Bush, Annie Lennox e Lisa Stansfield ) che però rifiutarono tutte, cosicchè alla fine si decise che la canzone sarebbe stata interpretata da Bryan Adams in persona.
Stranamente, la produzione non fu soddisfatta del risultato e cercò a lungo di obbligare Adams a modificare la canzone, ma lui rifiutò. Il risultato fu che la canzone finì relegata proprio alla fine del film, durante i titoli di coda. Immaginate quindi che risate si sarà fatto Bryan Adams quanto la canzone scalò le classifiche di tutto il mondo, diventando la canzone più venduta in assoluto nel 1991 ed uno dei singoli di maggior successo di tutti i tempi, vincendo anche un premio Grammy nel 1992.
E adesso, godiamoci questa magnifica canzone, sperando che anche noi, come lady Marian, posiamo trovare presto qualcuno affascinante, coraggioso e fiero quanto Kevin Costner, che non veda l’ora di dirci, “…cerca nel tuo cuore e nella tua anima, e quando mi avrai trovato non dovrai più cercare”.

The enchanting, sun-drenched scenes of "Save a Prayer" were filmed in Sri Lanka atop the rock fortress of Sigiriya, and among the ruins of a Buddhist temple at Polonnaruwa. Enjoy the wonderful beaches, the sunset and the ocean – and let Simon whisper in your ears while dancing together, “…we can call it paradise".


La morbida e seducente ballata "Save a Prayer" è stato il terzo singolo tratto dal secondo album dei Duran Duran “Rio”, che permise al gruppo di raggiungere nel 1982 la celebrità in tutto il mondo.
I video di “Rio” avrebbero influenzato moltissimo l’industria del videoclip musicale, sotto diversi punti di vista: le loro memorabili immagini erano totalmente diverse da quelle dei video a basso costo che venivano girati all’epoca, e che presentavano il gruppo che si esibiva sul palco. I video dei Duran Duran erano spesso girati in località esotiche, e la band si divertiva a partecipare a mini-storie anziché semplicemente limitarsi a suonare i propri strumenti.

Le incantevoli, luminose scene di "Save a Prayer" sono state filmate nello Sri Lanka nella fortezza di roccia di Sigiriya, e tra le rovine di un tempio Buddista a Polonnaruwa. Godetevi le magnifiche spiagge, il tramonto e l’oceano – e lasciate che Simon, mentre ballate insieme, vi sussurri all’orecchio, “…possiamo chiamarlo paradiso".

Luce (Tramonti a nord est) – Elisa

"Luce (tramonti a nord est)" is the first song in Italian of the Italian author and singer Elisa ( born Elisa Toffoli ). The song was presented at the 2001 Sanremo Festival, and won her the critics' award and the whole Festival. The song, which was initially written in English ( its title was "Come Speak to Me" ), was translated in collaboration with Zucchero. Following the success at the Festival, "Luce" and the original "Come Speak to Me" were later included on the re-release of Asile's World.

The title of “Asile's World” suggests the idea of an alternate world where nothing is as it appears to be and reality is turned upside down ( Asile is Elisa, reversed).
In the video, which features Elisa herself together with actor Giorgio Pasotti, two enemies fight and struggle, but cannot help feeling an irresistible, reciprocal attraction.. That’s no surprise: we romance readers perfectly know that enemies can sometimes turn to our best friends! ;-)


“Luce (Tramonti a nord est)” è stata la prima canzone in italiano della cantautrice Elisa ( il cui vero nome è Elisa Toffoli ), che con esso ha vinto la 51ª edizione del Festival di Sanremo nel 2001 oltre al premio della critica . Il brano in realtà è l'adattamento dall'inglese di una canzone in inglese, dal titolo “Come Speak to Me”: il testo in italiano è stato realizzato in collaborazione con con Zucchero.
In seguito al successo ottenuto al Festival è uscita una riedizione dell'album “Asile's World” che contiene sia la versione sanremese della canzone che quella in inglese “Come Speak to Me”.

Il titolo dell’album “Asile's World” rimanda a un mondo alternativo, dove niente è davvero come sembra e la realtà è capovolta (Asile è il palindromo di Elisa).

LOVE SONGS – CANZONI D’AMORE


What’s better than music to talk about love? Only romance novels, perhaps ;-)
Tender and romantic, or funny and witty, sad, passionate, aggressive or sensual.. there are thousands of shades in songs, for thousands of different feelings; videoclips help expressing them so well that often you cannot think of one without the other.
And here we are with the monthly videoclip of one of our favourite love songs. Enjoy !

Canzoni tenere e romantiche, oppure buffe e divertenti, tristi o appassionate, aggressive o sensuali… ci sono mille sfumature musicali, per mille sentimenti diversi; ed i video aiutano ad esprimerle, completandole così bene che spesso canzone e video sono tanto collegati tra loro da non riuscire più a pensare all’una senza l’altro.

"Always" is a ballad by the band Bon Jovi, released as a single off their 1994 album, “Cross Road”, which went on to become their biggest selling single, with more than 4 million copies sold worldwide. "Always" became an instant hit at live concerts, but the high demand on Jon Bon Jovi's vocals have seen it rarely performed in concert following the band's 1995/1996 “These Days” tour.
The song, which gets its title from a Tom Waits’ song, was originally written for the soundtrack to the film “Romeo Is Bleeding”, but after seeing (and disliking) the movie, the band decided not to lend the song to the producers and left it of its shelf until a friend convinced Jon to release it on the band's Cross Road album. The music video featured the actors Keri Russell("Mission: Impossible III" and the TV series "Felicity" ), Jack Noseworthy, Carla Gugino and Jason Wiles.

"Always" is a love ballad about a man who is deeply in love with a woman who left him. Speaking about the song in concert in 2004, Jon Bon Jovi said, "So many people have taken this song and really felt like 'awww it's so romantic, it's so wonderful', but truthfully, this guy's practically a stalker, he's a sick human being.... so I'm glad that you guys see the glass as half full".


"Always" è una ballata del gruppo americano Bon Jovi, che fu pubblicata come singolo a partire dal loro album del 1994, “Cross Road”, e che sarebbe diventata il loro singolo più venduto, con oltre 4 milioni di copie vendute in tutto il mondo. "Always" diventò immediatamente un successo anche ai concerti live della band, ma vista l’elevata difficoltà vocale che comportava per Jon Bon Jovi, dopo il tour “These Days” del 1995/1996 venne raramente eseguita dal vivo.
La canzone, che prende il nome da un motivo di Tom Waits, originariamente fu scritta come colonna sonora del film ”Triplo Gioco” (“Romeo Is Bleeding”), ma dopo che il gruppo ebbe visto il film, senza apprezzarlo affatto, decise di non affidare la canzone ai produttori, e “Always” se ne restò sullo scaffale finchè un amico di Jon lo convinse a usarla per l’album Cross Road.
Nel videoclip appaiono tra gli altri gli attori Keri Russell ( "Mission: Impossible III" e la serie TV "Felicity" ), Jack Noseworthy, Carla Gugino e Jason Wiles.

Durante un concerto del 2004, parlando della canzone, Jon Bon Jovi disse, "Tanta gente ascolta questa canzone e pensa, “ooooh, com’è romantico, è una cosa meravigliosa!” ma, francamente, questo tizio in pratica è ossessionato, è uno fuori di testa.... quindi mi fa piacere che voialtri vediate il bicchiere mezzo pieno!".

"You're Beautiful" was released as the third single of Blunt's debut album “Back to Bedlam” in 2005. In the UK and Australia the song reached number one and number two respectively. According to the United World Chart "You're Beautiful" is the world's third most successful song since 1998, only beaten by Cher's "Believe" and Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie". For the video the singer won the MTV Award for Best Male Video and Best Cinematography.

On a TV interview, Blunt said of the song, "It's kind of miserable. It was about seeing my ex-girlfriend on the Underground in London with her new man, who I didn't know existed. She and I caught eyes and lived a lifetime in that moment, but didn't do anything about it and haven't seen each other since."
In the video, Blunt removes his cloths in a cold, bare, snowy setting whilst seagulls circle overhead like buzzards: then he jumps off a cliff and lands into the depths of icy water Some thought James was so unhappy about the end of his love story to think about suicide; others that his jump in the video is symbolic and means the death of the relationship with his girlfriend about whom he is singing this song.
We don’t know: what’s certain is that a follow-up video was made in 2006 showing three beautiful mermaids swimming underwater and James jumping into the water and frolicking together with them till the end of the song; when he returns to the surface leaving the mermaids behind.
May we draw from this the conclusion that in the meanwhile James has found something, or someone, who healed him from depression? ;-)

"You're Beautiful" è il terzo singolo ricavato all’album di debutto di Blunt, “Back to Bedlam”, nel 2005. In Inghilterra e Australia la canzone è arrivata rispettivamente al ptrimo e al secondo posto delle classifiche. Secondo la classifica su base mondiale United World Chart, "You're Beautiful” si è posizionata al terzo posto tra le canzoni che hanno avuto più successo al mondo dal 1998 ad oggi, superata soltanto da "Believe" di Cher e "Hips Don't Lie" di Shakira. Per questo video il cantante ha vinto il premio MTV Award per il Miglior Video Maschile and la Migliore Regia.

In un’intervista televisiva, Blunt ha detto di questa canzone, "E’ una canzone sulla disperazione. Avevo visto nel metrò di Londra la mia ex con il suo nuovo ragazzo, e io non sapevo nemmeno che ce l’avesse. I nostri occhi si sono incontrati ed è stato come vivere una vita intera concentrata in un solo attimo, ma non abbiamo fatto nulla e da allora non ci siamo rivisti mai più."
Nel video, Blunt si toglie I vestiti sullo sfondo di un paesaggio invernale nudo e spoglio mentre I gabbiani gli volano sopra la testa come fossero avvoltoi: poi salta giù da un precipizio tuffandosi nell’acqua gelata. Alcuni hanno pensato che James fosse così depresso per la fine della sua love story da pensare davvero al suicidio; altri, che il suo salto nel video simboleggi la morte della relazione con la ragazza di cui parla nella canzone.
Non lo sappiamo: quel che è certo è che nel 2006 è stato realizzato un nuovo video di “You’re beautiful”, in cui appaiono tre bellissime sirene che nuotano sott’acqua e James che salta in acqua e scherza con loro fino alla fine della canzone; per poi tornare in superficie, piantando in asso le sirene
Possiamo forse dedurne che James ha trovato qualcosa, oppure qualcuno, che gli ha permesso di uscire dalla depressione? ;-)
